U12s find nothing over the Rainbow
8 January 2011
Venue: Brockwell Park
St. Matthew’s 0 Rainbow 3 / Rainbow 2 St. Matthew’s 0 (Double Banker)
League new boys, Rainbow, did not have a wasted trip from Hackney. Within the first ten minutes our aim was to concentrate on playing the ball behind the defensive line to put immediate pressure on the opposition, in the hope of defensive errors and the ball falling to our very quick and agile forwards. Unfortunately, we conceded the first goal but afterwards we began to play our usual football, constantly placing the opposition defence under pressure who, to their credit, held out strongly. Our finishing in front of goal let us down while the opposition managed to turn their few chances into goals. Overall, though, I’m pleased with the performance. We stuck to our game plan throughout, even when we were losing. So, all credit to the boys for not giving up and remaining smiling after the game. If we keep playing like this, it won’t be long till the goals do start flying in.
